With a series of Apple events happening this quarter, the holiday season would have loads of Apple products to shop. The previous “Time Flies” event revealed a pack of Apple Watch Series, iPad Air, and Apple One subscription-based service.
At the 13Th October virtual launch event, Apple uncovered the most awaited four iPhones and a HomePod Mini. The event’s invitation depicted a lively design with the phone maker’s logo and a message stating, “Hi, Speed.” Well, the design peaked the expectations of Apple user’s for upcoming smart home devices and headphones.
The launch of HomePod Mini was quite expected this time, as the contest for smart home speakers getting fiercer with Amazon and Google’s Nest.
So What Apple Brought To The Table This Time?
The iPhone 12 series has a total of four models in its portfolio,
- iPhone 12 Mini
- iPhone 12
- iPhone Pro
- iPhone Pro Max
The whole line comes with the company’s new A14 Bionic processor, released for the iPad Air in September, and a new, square design that mimics the iPhone 4 and the latest iPad Pro models. The old OLED display is replaced by Super Retina XDR display and eventually switched for all four models. Moreover, this series comes with multiple camera options, but that depends on the model you choose to buy. The iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with the most advanced collection in the line, including a LiDAR sensor.
Display
The screen sizes range from 5.4 inches and 6.1 inches on the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12, respectively, to 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches on the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. Respectively the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro have the same screen size. Both models also share the same display type. Both the models stand apart when it comes to camera and case material; aluminum and stainless steel. Also, Apple claims 4x enhanced drop performance with its integrated ceramic shield display.
Camera
The all-new iPhone 12 series comes with a Night Mode feature to its lens with front-facing and ultra-wide cameras. Apple iPhone 12 Pro is installed with Deep Fusion to all cameras and wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto features.
The new LIDAR sensor integrated with iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max extends developers’ capabilities to create AR applications and enhance overall camera experience, even low light situations.
Flagships features
iPhone 12 series now come with 5G support, which is possibly a move to keep it aligned with future network advancements.
The iPhone 12 can be wirelessly charged, but Apple has added a new MagSafe feature that uses magnets to keep the wireless charger in place, ensuring a good range of Qi coils. The iPhone 12 charges up to 15W, which is double the previous speed of 7.5W.
Let’s turn to HomePod mini,
Amazon Echo and Google Home devices’ sale shows that there is still a huge market for smart speakers. According to Strategy Analytics, Apple captured 4.7% of the smart speaker market in 2019 and shipped approximately 2.6 million units as Christmas approaches.
The company also announced the launch of a smaller, cheaper HomePod. It will be spherical aesthetical and dimensionally with much more practical experience. The speakers can also be paired to create a stereo pair, and Apple takes advantage of the speakers’ ability to speak to other devices in the Apple ecosystem.
